What’s next?

A continuous improvement. Once you have completed the cycle, 1st cycle until the end, which is why we purposely put an end to the topic. We need to revisit it again, with a new cycle, a new paradigm and a feel for improvement. One of the key weakness in doing 5S is people stop on the 1st cycle, and through that is enough. No, it is never enough, in fact, the cycle will continue and never-ending. Since nothing is ever perfect, what we want is to continuously improve to perfection. Not on the 1st round but, moving into 2nd, 3rd and so forth.

If you could see from the illustration, we move from planning to improve – seeing what needs to be done, into taking action doing the improvement itself, checking and monitoring how is the improvement done and finally think about what could be improve in the next cycle in action stage.

  • PLAN: planning for improvement
  • DO: actually executing our plan
  • CHECK: monitoring whether the improvement level
  • ACT: taking input from the monitoring process for improvement suggestion

And the cycle of continuous improvement continues…..


The main idea here is every time a cycle complete you will grow, slowly but surely you will grow, just like any organic being. As strength is build upon strength in the gym, you can’t bench 20 kg, if you can’t even bench in 1 kg. So, does the idea of improving your space, you can’t improve your current space if you do not do it the first time, in a full cycle. The next cycle will be much better, much faster and definitely much worth your time. As in most thing in life, all good thing improve exponentially.

Next time you feel like quitting the improvement process stated in this web, don’t you might be a small step away towards a better fulfilling and adored life. Life where your wife or husband will be happy with the space that you have created for her or him and the cute face that your kids make when you give them the area to play. A continuous improvement journey.
