What to remove

There are a lot of way that you could sort of whether the item is necessary for you or not. The common waste disposal method that I propose is the feeling method. Whether it makes you happy or not. That is the easiest for me and for most of the people. However, for some and even in some cases, you may want to have a specific criteria to adhere to. Especially in the office setting. Should I keep it with me or pass it to other people?

With that we would like to propose the following. But, still it depend on whether you like it or not. In organization, sorting and waste disposal nothing is cast in stone. It is more of what you feel and think is the best way. But, with this journey, I will also discuss mainly in my blog on how we could solve the space issue, or where to start or how do I do it in my scenario.

First of all we need to look at the priority, when do we need the item and see how to store them.

Generally you need them once a day or once a week

Store near or in the place where you need them

Generally you only need them once a month or 2-6 months

Think about storing them together somewhere

Generally you only need them 1 year or slightly less

Think about storing them at a distance or throw them away

Next we need to check the usefulness , frequency and quantity of the items

waste disposal aspects - remove non useful item

Think about how useful the item is?

If it is not useful for your work in the area, dispose or move them somewhere.

waste disposal aspects - remove infrequent use

Think on the frequency of use then. Are you using the daily, weekly, monthly?

If the item is not needed frequently store them away together. Only keep what you need daily.

waste disposal aspects - remove excess

Do you really need 10 of those on a daily basis?

Remove any excess inventory/items or store them away from you daily workstation. Imagine 10 bottles of ketchup on the dining table.

With that below is the summary of what needs to be considered as unnecessary items, which require waste disposal.

waste disposal is an important aspects of 5S - consider excessive, defective, outdated, broken dirty and old to be disposed.
